Harmless "bottle of water" carried by a petitioner on Public Grievances day creates flutter

A harmless water bottle carried by a petitioner on Public Grievances day has created a flutter as it was mistaken for a bottle of kerosene carried for self-immolation bid by the petitioner

Police who doubted the presence of kerosene in the bottle seized it and took away the person who carried it for the investiatigation of the bottle.

However in the end, the bottle turned out to be nothing but a thirst- quenching water bottle carried along by the petitioner and not kerosene as suspected by the police posted in there.

In recent times security has been tightened in the Collectorate campus to avoid any extreme step taken by petitioners on Monday petitition day.

Latley, a couple of petitioners including Raja of Nagarajapuram near Podanur attempted suicide by pouring kerosene on themselves to urge the district administration to take action on their grievance petitions submitted.

As the public from all over the district congregate on Public grievances redressal day held on every Monday of the week, the police have tightened checks and screenings, and vehicles are allowed to enter the campus after checking.

The collectorate staff are asked to produce their id card before they gain entry in the campus.
